Hilary K Sinclair - Author and Poet
August 13, 2020Hilary Sinclair is interested, like so many people today, in the crucial balance of body, mind and spirit and is still waiting for that integration! Exposure to intense spiritual pressure in a fundamentalist Christian Fellowship contributed to a severe mental breakdown in the eighties, which opened the gates to a more tranquil and contemplative life.
Discovering Ken Wllber’s Integral (AQUAL) world view led to an expanded consciousness which gave her the courage to publish this small volume of poems. Sinclair is a qualified spiritual director and graduate teacher ( long since retired) She originally worked in the field of psychodynamic and group psychotherapy and graduated from the University of Cambridge in the UK.
She has always loved poetry, including works by Kathleen Raine, Emily Bronte, and John Keats. Her mystic’ consciousness was first triggered as a teenager, by reading Simone Weil.
ABOUT THE BOOK(S):
These poems reflect an ongoing awareness journey. The search began via personal psychotherapy and encounter groups in a secular perspective in the seventies, predictably morphing into spiritual concerns. An intense involvement as a Christian later transcended into a more all-embracing vision. The poems, few though they are, are a natural expression of that journey.
The Yearning Heart offers contemplative poems and a universal consciousness for anyone with an open and interested heart. A spiritual journey across each page, these poems are not bound by time or place, and offer a macro approach to emotional experience, resonating with any and all. With over twenty different poems, this collection certainly covers a full range of topics and reflective perspectives. From nature to God, from 9/11 to our galaxies, this has been a work in progress since 1977.
